Community Speaker Series
A monthly free gathering by Slow Food St. Louis connecting the community with food leaders, farmers, and makers. Promoting good, clean, and fair food for all in the greater St. Louis Area.

Our 2020 Speaker Series kicks off with Brian Pelletier of Kakao Chocolate and Crystal Stevens of Flourish with everything you need to get your feet wet — and hands dirty! — with Slow Food St. Louis! First, we’ll go through a Slow Food 101 introduction, share with you the origin story and vision of the international movement, as well as how the US chapter fits into the global picture, and how the St. Louis chapter fits into the national framework. We’ll also talk about what the local chapter is working on this year, and how you can help! On top of that, we’re going to walk you through the steps of building a Climate Victory Garden. Maybe you heard about Victory Gardens from the World War II period, and how these home gardens took some of the heat off the national food system. Green America is doing the same thing now, but to help reverse climate change, and you can help with even a small regenerative garden. And we’ll show you how to do it even if you’ve never had a garden before!
