The Slow Food St. Louis Garlic Project will be handing out Garlic bulbs at Larder and Cupboard on Tuesday, September 25, for those participating in the Garlic Project. It has turned out to be a very challenging year for growing garlic, much worse than 2017. Most garlic harvested this year is too small to replant.
Now is the time to return to the garlic project some of the garlic you grew this year. How much to return is up to you. At least returning two bulbs for every bulb you were given if possible. If you had a successful year you can return more bulbs. Also, that evening join Slow Food St. Louis Vice President, Steve McGehee, as he presents three varieties of roasted garlic for tasting. This event is free and open to all.
Please send Steve McGehee an email smcgehee1959@gmail.com and let him know how much you are returning and how much you would like for next year so he can be prepared. Garlic will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. First-time growers are also welcome to come and pick up garlic and give it a try.
Garlic can also be returned to Kakao Chocolate at 7272 Manchester Road in Maplewood 314-645-4446.
