Join Chef Erin Torgerson for a virtual cooking class through the Slow Food STL VIP Cooking Class Series through our Slow Food U Program.
Hello! My name is Erin Torgerson. I am a full-time vegetable grower and Slow Food trained chef. My great-grandparents settled on a farm in St. Charles, but it wasn’t until I was in college that I learned how beautiful, sustainable, and diverse a farm could be. After graduation, I WWOOFed my way through Denmark and England, where I was led to Slow Food’s University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy. I enrolled in their Culinary Masters program and I focused my studies on using traditional, Peasant food cultures as an example for sustainable home cooking and the ability of agri-tourism to create more connection between consumers and farmers. Now I spend my days in Durham, North Carolina, where I spend my days growing vegetables at Red’s Quality Acre, and my nights and weekends teaching virtual cooking classes!
